Marketing to Girl Gamers

Is this how people should market to girl gamers?

I have a couple of thoughts.

  • I don’t know what this game is about (based on the box art)
  • The use of real poeple on the cover makes me doubt the quality of the game.
  • My god that picture is the definition of cheesy.
  • Bring on the cheese!

  • What you said on Twitter is likely true. They're marketing for Tweens -- so they'll see their peer group and relate more than they would from digital cover art, I would imagine.

(admittedly I messed around with some Barbie fashion games when I was a youngin' -- it's like paper dolls, but more realistic and without the waste ! )

    .. p.s - don't ever repeat this. =p
  • Hmm. I 'm not sure how well a game centered on fashion will translate to the dynamics of a Wii game. Also, (maybe it's just me) - but why are there 3 white girls on the cover? And, they all look like they could be about 14 to 16 years old, so who/what kind of game is it? Girls at that age I think are more interested in buying clothes - not playing a game centered around them. But, maybe I'm reading too much into it.
  • Given how diverse the gaming population is becoming I would've placed a diverse set of girls on the cover. Second, I think the concept is a bit off. It tells me nothing about the game.

Btw, girls love fashion games. Check out http://www.roiworld.com/ These women are gaming with fashion.
