XBox 360 Price Drop and How My PS3 Crashed

Ms. Pixel has gotten her hands on a clip of a flyer that foreshadows the price drop of the Xbox 360 to $199.99. The price point is every gamers sweet spot. Especially, the fat, massive audience of casual gamers that everyone wants a piece of now. The new price is expected to drop next week. This is perfect for me because I need a new gaming system. My Playstation 3 crashed two weeks ago.

What?

It over-heated, had a hissy fit and died. I pushed the console to the limit. And its limit is pretty damn low. I only played it for one to two hours a day. Now it refuses to turn on when I push the power button.

Enter the XBox. People are usually surprised to hear that I don’t own the console. I’ve never felt the need to get it. Most of my friends own it and my PS3 did a good job of feeding my gaming addiction. Now that my PS3 is MIA I’m disgruntled. The amount of money I paid for a system that eventually failed on me really stings. I’m ready to get an Xbox now. And at 199.99, I’ll be able to get one without breaking the bank.

  • Overheating is a common thing with the Xbox causing the red ring of death. Not really heard much about the PS3 overheating yet.

sory about that ,i have a ps3 but that has never happen,i guess i was a lucky one.
  • Are you considering the $200 arcade package? I'd recommend the $300 version with the hard drive. It's a better value in the long run, if you might be upgrading with a hard drive, and wireless controllers. I don't have an Xbox (yet) but I'm considering it in the next few months.

I'm still stuck back in the PS2 days. :) That's what being a student for so long does. At least as a student I could justify having a decent computer.
  • I wonder if the hard drive is really worth $100. I'll definitely look into it though :)

I think we've hit the wall in terms of 'graphics and super-fast hardware'. Although the PS3 features richer graphics than the PS2 the game play experience is about the same. You don't need to get the PS3. Let me know when you get your Xbox so we can duel on Xbox Live.
  • Well I'm going to make sure that my console isn't in an enclosed space. I love how game console designers FAIL at realizing that the average consumer doesn't have a lot of space in their entertainment centers at home. Consoles should be designed to work in an enclosed space, if not they I want a free external cooling fan with my console.
  • Yikes, sorry to hear about your PS3. Good luck with the 360, although I've got to say, if you're switching consoles so you won't have to deal with the repair process then Microsoft has a surprise for you.
